Self, your crush on Harley Quinn is worrying. For one thing, she's animated and you're in love with a real, live, gorgeous woman. For another, she's a crazy woman usually dressed up in a clown-suit and while you love the crazies, you are deathly scared of clowns so that would put a damper on the thing. And besides, her and Poison Ivy are your favourite femmeslash couple so why mess with a good thing? ;)

I know, this is the most pointless thing I've ever posted. But LiveJournal is made for pointlessness, right?

Heh. A hot girl in a skin-tight jester's outfit? I'm so there. :P

Stop ... reading my mind ... please?
I could practically copy/paste everything you wrote up there into my own journal and it'd be my exact thoughts!

(Arrrrrgh ... *headdesk* now I've got insomnia because of this fucking cold. Gonna get the humidifier fixed once it's day, and maybe get a hold of some medicine. And try and take naps once my head had dried out. UGH.
In other news, hopefully I can start work on some ficcage this afternoon! Yay! *hacksandcoughs*)

P.S. What do you think of Linkara's theme song? Needs more Insano in my not-so-humble opinion ...

I enjoyed it a lot but... to be honest, I could have sworn he was going to go for "I'M A MAN! Must be swift as a coursing river! I'M A MAN!" and you know the rest. ;) (Oh, joy, I've got that stuck in my head now.)

And, yay, fic! Hope you feel better soon. :) *glompy cuddles and much Linkara*

Awww, don't I get cuddles as well? :(
Well, at least Harley Quinn wasn't ruined in a film adaption like a certain Poison Ivy. Whoever told Uma Thurman that she could act needs to be shot. Oh and her name is Japanese for horse. Horse?!

Of course you do, you silly darling. *glomps you even harder* I love you. ;)

And if I was in the mood to be fair, I would say she was playing it up for camp value like Mr. Eats Babies and Mr. Supposed Heartthrob but, damnit, Poison Ivy is supposed to be awesome, Batman is supposed to have lightness but still be taken seriously and Batnipples should never exist. *pouts* :P

I'm excited to hear all the other runner-ups in the credits for the next couple of entries. Someone had better make a fanvid with each song in order once they're all out so that I can listen to it on repeat all day long ... *glares at the internet*
(Dangit, now you've got that stuck in my head too! Mulan was my favorite Disney movie growing up, because the girl actually got to do stuffs.)

Awwww, huggles! Thank you very much! *eyes Linkara eagerly* Just you wait, Linkara, just you wait ... someday, when you least expect it, I will marry you!

Mulan was the first movie I ever went to see in the cinema twice. I even got the doll and hacked all her hair off, which was a huge mistake. ;) But she, along with Ariel (Yes, I know the Nostalgia Chick hates her but I no care! She was my very first Girl!Crush.), Belle, Meg and Esmeralda is one of my favourite Disney girls. :D She was awesome.

And speaking of Linkara, if you saw the Warrior #1 Commentary this will be old news but did you know he and the Nostalgia Critic did a review together in Chicago and it will be out eventually? I can't wait. :)

Mulan and Ariel were tied for 'number of multiple dolls' in my collection. I had three or four different ones of each, which was good because one of the Mulan dolls got beheaded in a war with some Beanie Babies, so she went from 'Action Mulan' doll to the 'Wise Old Mentor Mulan Doll with the Neck Cast Made of Tape.'

(Yes, I know the Nostalgia Chick hates her but I no care! She was my very first Girl!Crush.)
Bah, looking back on pretty much all of the Disney movies, there's a lot to cringe and finger-wag at, not just Ariel. At least she GOT her man, unlike in the tear-inducing original. Besides, compared with other princesses (Aurora, Cinderella, etc.) at least Ariel had the initiative to seek out what she wanted and actually DO THINGS.
My first girl-crush came much, much later. I spent my childhood WISHING I liked girls (because boys were icky, and for the most part, still are, actually) but was having regular crushes on boys. Then a couple of years ago I started noticing Inara from 'Firefly' in a different light than other actresses, and then I all-out fell in LOVE with Lena Olin from watching 'Alias' and then last summer I was rewarded with a crush on a real-live girl in a Shakespeare workshop I was attending. Hopefully I'll see her again in a couple weeks. Maybe I'll work up the nerve to tell her how I feel. *SQUEE*

Ooooooo! That'll be FANTASTIC! (The Warrior review was so much fun to watch, if only for the dimension-hopping reviewers. Linkara as Dr. Insano was ... *gulps* far too much fun to observe.)

Oh, God, Cinderella. I've always hated Snow White and Sleeping Beauty* too but she was probably the worst. In fact, I went to see a pantomime of Cinderella ages ago and when the she tore the tickets with no fight at all, I wanted to scream "GET A FRICKING SPINE!".

* But to be honest, didn't everyone? The only reasons why those movies are loved so much were because the animation was awesome, the side characters were great and the villains were at their very best.

Oh and good luck with your maybe-girlfriend-to-be. I (and MY girlfriend, for that matter) will be rooting for you. :D

Sure will be. :)
The thing about Mulan is she's the only Disney Princess who actually shows that girls can be as good - if not better - than men in many areas. Unfortunately she goes back to being the typical "girl" but hey, it's fun while it lasts. ;)
I'd have to admit that I hate Pocahontas. I have a deep respect for Native Americans and no matter how much I love Colors of the Wind, then film in general is pretty poor. It's such a shame. :(

*nodnod* One of my all-time favorite Disney movies. And anyway, I think she handled her ending very well. Sure, she returns to 'girl-mode,' but her dad respects her for who she is, and I highly doubt that there'd be any of that 'arranged marriage' business going on after getting awarded by the Emperor. (Still, she should have taken the job with the Emperor and changed things in favor of gender equality ...)

Oh god ... Pocahontas ... *shudders under the barely-controlled rage* I was a history buff from a young age, so that movie was MADDENING to me. Still is.

I think the historical inaccuracy is what annoys me the most. The Nostalgia Chick touches on it, of course. I'm not sure if you're American or not but I always wished in the UK we learnt more about Native American history.
Oh and it is Toshiko in her display pic. That's right, the same girl who was in *shudders* Spice World...
By the way, if you didn't already guess, I'm emeriin's girlfriend. We're kind of like twins. You'll get used to it. ;) *holds out hand* Nice to meet ya.

Isn't it awful (now that we actually have taste) to see all these great actors slumming it in a fucking Spice Girls film? I mean, come on Richard E. Grant! How could you go from "MONTY YOU TERRIBLE CUNT!" to "I THINK I JUST BROKE UP THE SPICE GIRLS!"? *sobs and clings to her Withnail and I DVD* ;)

Oh god yes! Just WATCHING THE NOSTALGIA CHICK'S REVIEW showed me that the movie contains not only Toshiko (WHY?!) Alan Cumming (whom I find weird as an actor and awesome as a person) and OMG RICHARD SMITH-JONES FROM 'SLINGS AND ARROWS' WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THAT GOD-AWFUL MOVIE YOU ARE A GENIUS ACTOR NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Pleased to meet you as well! *shakes metaphorical hand, as I'm sick and you don't want to really shake hands with me and catch this nasty cold thing*

Yeah, I'm American. Sometimes I wish that I weren't. We have some pretty cringe-worthy bits to our history. Like Pocahontas.

I can't stand Pocahontas, either. The 90's was an-almost perfect Disney decade, historical inaccuracies aside, but for some reason this film just really rubs me the wrong way.

Oh, and on the subject of Mulan, did you know that in the original story everything came so easy for her and she was accepted by her fellow soldiers when she eventually got found out? I love the fact that Disney, for once, made things harder and more complicated for their hero. :D
[info]aunt_zelda wrote:

Yeah, I vaguely knew the actual Mulan story. Funny that Disney, for once, created conflict instead of glossing over. Funny in a good way.

(Ok, you're a House/Wilson fan as well?! Just ... stop, ok? I'm starting to become jealous of your girlfriend and that's not good!)
[info]heirii wrote:

Are you serious about being jealous? Aww, please don't be. :(
The actual Mulan story is a Chinese poem. I actually have it somewhere in my room.
Hmm, yes. Disney don't usually tend to create conflict when it's "not needed", but kudos to them for actually touching on things which could easily affect children at any time (in other words, the death of a parent).
Oh and don't worry. I have a cold so any germs at this moment are more than welcome to the party which is invading my body. ;)

I actually think Disney gets an unfair reputation for being sickly-sweet... sweetie. ;) Their villains were the best, their sad moments traumatized children, Hunchback of Notre Dame was terrifying even it was nothing like the book and they gave love to millions of furries everywhere. :P God Bless Old Disney, may you rest in peace.
[info]heirii wrote:

Gave love or gave birth? ;)
Oh gosh. Disney villains. I don't know any scarier villains, to be honest.
I love you very much. :P Oh and yes, may Old Disney rest in peace.

Well, I don't know if this true or not but supposedly Disney can't stand their furry fanbase or any of the Rule 34 stuff. Might be a reason why they're not so proud of Robin Hood. ;)

I love you far more, of course. :)

And we all know who killed Disney, right? Those dreaded pre-teens. May they rot in hell. :D

Yes, I am serious about being jealous! You have a seriously geeky girlfriend and I wish I knew someone like her in RL, let alone a girl who liked girls!

Damn. I just remembered that I'm supposed to be reading 'Les Miserables' this summer. Damn you, Victor Hugo, and your prolific, insanely long writing style.

I've got the cold too. I think *crosses fingers* that I'm on the mend. I even managed to finish a fic and post it today! Huzzah!

Oh, those poor furies. At least we slashers get moderate respect sometimes. They don't get any from the general internets.

Disney villains are right up there with the generic horror villains in 'grown up' movies, in my opinion.

What is considered 'New' Disney? *is curious*

As a French student, I've had a taste of Hugo but prefer Dumas. I also love Zola. People think I'm weird that I prefer French literature to English literature but I was brought up reading in both languages from like the age of 10 so... :(

I feel sorry for the furries. It's not bestiality, damn it!

New Disney is anything post-Mermaid. Basically, early 1990s-2000. It pretty much ended with *shudders* Tarzan. Oh dear, Disney. How did you get from Beauty and the Beast to Tarzan? We will never know.

Aw, come on baby. Tarzan was awesome. It was the only time where I could stand Phil Collins and Jane was hot, even though I still hate Minnie Driver. ;)

I'm always infuriated by women who have no self-confidence (I blame my mother for raising me so well) so I always had an issue with the princesses being so ... useless. I also found it weird that Disney didn't have movies where a Prince rescued a Prince, but then again I grew up going back and forth between my mother and my gay father, so that's another story ...

Oh and good luck with your maybe-girlfriend-to-be. I (and MY girlfriend, for that matter) will be rooting for you. :D
*blushes* Naaaaaaw, thanks! Here's hoping I'll actually be able to strike up a conversation with her, eh? *crosses fingers*

(P.S. Is that Toshiko in your icon? OMG *glomps you if it is so*)
